Only Christians

There are vital truths about the world that only Christians know. This is no credit to us. We were as blind as everyone else, but the Lord in mercy quickened us to new life and restored our understanding. We must reaffirm, live, and speak these truths with purpose.

For example, only Christians know that all the world’s problems are the result of blinding slavery to sin and Satan. Only Christians know the Liberator who frees men from sin’s addictions and tyrants. Only Christians know the One who raises the dead and are ambassadors of new life to the world. Are we acting upon the truth only we know?

Only Christians know that God’s overriding purpose for history is to exalt his Son by gathering all things under his Headship (Isa. 9:6-7; Dan. 2:44-45; Eph. 1:10). This is God’s program for history. Only in union with the Son of God are life, salvation, and prosperity for men and families, schools and businesses.

Only Christians know, therefore, that God’s kingdom comes not with man’s wisdom, programs, and crusades. It comes with the faithful sowing of God’s word, watering his word with prayer, and waiting upon the Lord of the harvest to bring forth the fruit in his season. Have patience, faithfulness, and diligence, Christian!

Only Christians know that Satan can be resisted and defeated with God’s invincible armor. The world of man’s wisdom, traditions, movements, and despots are clothed in Satan’s worthless armor. Satan is already defeated. The world follows a headless Goliath. Jesus Christ has already severed the serpent’s head. Satan cannot win. Use the armor, Christian, or do you not know?

Only Christians know that Jesus Christ is the reigning King at the Father’s right hand. Only Christians are in submission to the King. Only Christians have a future. Only they can speak the truth that the King uses to open prison doors, heal lepers, and raise the dead.

Only Christians know the last chapter, the certainty of our victory. The trumpet will blow from heaven. Earth will still. The King in his glory will descend from heaven with a shout that will shake everything. He will raise the dead, open the books, and gather all men for judgment. All will see his glory, confess his Lordship, and bow in submission.

Only Christians know these things. Live as Christ’s disciples. (1) Trust the King’s power and dominion – do not be afraid of men or fight with man’s weapons. If something cannot be achieved by faith, with his armor, to his honor, it is not part of his kingdom. (2) Live in communion with the King – only he has strength and wisdom.

(3) Remember his example: “I am among you as he that serves.” Reject pride, proud men, proud movements. They are not of Christ. Serve everyone around you in his name. See yourself and live as Christ’s servant. (4) Follow Him. The King is our Shepherd, and he will guide us. “When he leads his own sheep out, he goes before them.” Only Christians know these precious truths. Rejoice with exceeding joy! Live by faith in the Son of God!

Christ’s Clarifying Call to Discipleship

There will be moments when we feel lost, uncertain, and confused. Even our beloved Apostle Paul spoke of being “troubled, perplexed, persecuted, and cast down” (2 Cor. 4:8). It is false and unhelpful

It is a frustrating lie to believe – that pain and sorrow will go away quickly, leave little trace. Some pain the Lord does not intend to remove, at least not yet. Some bruises from sin, even repented
